Willow workshop
PeasPark
Craig Sands
We're delighted to be joined by expert community gardener, Craig Sands, who will offer a two-hour workshop looking at creating hedging and other structures from willow sourced from the PeasPark site. Participants will be encouraged to think about how they can incorporate the learning on their own sites.
Artist Joey O’Gorman will share his plans for incorporating this activity as a future arts project at PeasPark.
While the training activity is for adults, we have also developed an option for a children’s activity if that enables increased participation. Some places have already been allocated to PeasPark gardeners and residents.
We will also host discussions on the day about a proposed shared network across North Belfast to explore links across growing, the role of gardens in nature protection, sustainability, climate change and creativity.
PeasPark is supported by the Urban Villages Initiative, Live Here Love Here, Newington Housing Association’s Brian Mullan Community Fund, North Belfast District Policing and Community Safety Partnership, Dargan House Community Participatory Budgeting from Clanmil Housing Association, volunteers and PS2.
