Walk and sketch in the park, 2016
series of free walking and sketching events
Lead artists: Sharon Kelly and Cilla Wagner
Ends 04 September 2016
Walk and sketch in the park is series of free walking and sketching events in 6 of Belfast's city parks during this summer. Participants are invited to join artists Sharon Kelly and Cilla Wagner for a gentle walk through the park with regular stops to sketch, draw or watercolour at various locations. Participants will be supported and encouraged by the facilitating artists to observe and visually translate the world around them by using materials provided at the event (pencils, charcoal and wet media such as watercolour and pen/wash). Sketches will be made by observing the surrounding landscape in the immediate park and natural world (flowers, plants and trees) and any architecture of the park (gateways, buildings, bridges). Views from the parks will also provide subject matter for sketching.
The facilitating artists will provide artistic support and encouragement so that participants feel able to try sketching at their own pace. Some demonstration of techniques will take place but this is primarily an enjoyable, participatory event activity.
The WALK & SKETCH sessions in Belfast City Parks take place on Sundays between 3- 5pm on the following dates and locations
