Companion Planting x Praxis

Event, PS²

Led by Cecelia Graham and Tara McGinn

On Monday 29 September, Tara McGinn will be hosting a special session of Companion Planting as part of their role of Ulster Recruitment Officer at Praxis Artists’ Union 💐

During the session, Tara will give an insight into the work of Praxis and Trade Unions in advocating for workers rights, including self-employed artists and those working within institutions. The session will focus on the north, and will include conversation based around our needs as a sector within the island 💌

🫶🏻 Praxis: The Artists’ Union of Ireland envisions a progressive and just society that values artists and art. They’re an artists union which recognises that art is an occupation that takes time, training, and risks, and believe that artists should be compensated fairly for this work. Their aim is to unite artists and to give them the power to influence their working conditions.

🌱 Companion Planting is a series of ongoing gatherings that interrogate embedded institutional practices and bureaucratic mechanisms within the arts sector. The sessions hope to think through ways of reconfiguring arts organisations, seeking genuine means of supporting creative practitioners in the north of Ireland and creating space to imagine how we can work collectively to uphold one another.
